Listen to music or videos in airplanes, trains or other loud environments. Alternately, you can wear the Mute just to enjoy the sound of silence. The Mute doesn’t simply rely on padding to keep noise at bay. Highly effective Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology actually neutralizes in-coming sound.
This is how it works: A small microphone on the headphones picks up sounds originating from outside of the ear cups. Processors then quickly create out-of-phase versions of the incoming sound waves. Once emitted by the headphones, they effectively intercept and neutralize the sounds before they reach your ears. ANC technology works especially well with continuous low noises such as the roar of a jet engine. Short, clipped sounds that manage to elude the system’s ANC technology are effectively blocked by the MUTE’s closed, well-padded design.
The noise cancelling function works even without a cable at the push of a button. This is a handy option for times when you don’t want to listen to music, but wouldn’t mind some peace and quiet. Double clicking instantly pauses the MUTE’s ANC so that you can communicate without having to take off your headphones.
With a 40 hour runtime on a single battery, the MUTE is one of the longest playing ANC headphones available on the market today. Once the battery is empty, the ANC function ceases to work, but playback is unaffected.
